Battery Testing

Uniross Industrial Batteries

At Uniross, we offer a comprehensive range of Battery Testing services

Whether you’re simply looking to test an old battery to see if it’s still in good working condition, or you’re an Engineer who would like to simulate the conditions of a particular application, we’re able to assist. With our extensive range of State of the Art Testing equipment, we’re perfectly positioned to test, analyze and provide comprehensive reports on any cell or battery pack.

Capacity Testing

Capacity Testing allows one to establish the remaining Capacity of any cell or battery pack. These tests are conducted in accordance with the IEC specification, and allows us to determine the overall “well being” of the battery.

Safety Standards

Consumer products normally have to comply with national or international regulations as required by the various safety organizations of the different countries in which the products are sold. Examples are UL, ANSI, CSA and IEC standards.

Environmental Testing

Environmental tests typically test a cell or battery under extreme temperatures – both High & Low temperatures, in order to establish the effects on the battery. Environmental tests can also include Shock, Vibration and even drop tests.

Abuse Testing

The purpose of Abuse Testing is to verify that the battery is not a danger to the user or to itself, either by accidental or deliberate abuse . Recent accidents with Lithium cells have highlighted the potential dangers, which batteries potentially pose. We always recommend abuse testing be carried out on any new battery design, prior to it going into mass production.

Simulation Testing

Simulation testing is especially popular with product developers and Engineers who would like to establish if a battery will perform as intended within their specific application. Simulation testing is also used to test the cells to arbitrary limits set by the engineer in order to determine how long the cells will survive under adverse conditions or unusual loads, to determine failure modes or safety factors.

Cycle Testing

During a Cycle Test, cells are subjected to repeated charge - discharge cycles to verify that the cells meet or exceed the manufacturer's claimed cycle life. These tests are needed to verify that the battery performance is in line with the end product reliability and lifetime expectations and will not result in excessive guarantee or warranty claims.

Qualification Testing

Qualification testing is usually performed for two reasons:
1) To verify that cells meet the manufacturers specification.

2) To determine whether a cell or battery is suitable for the purpose for which it was intended.

Qualification tests are usually comprehensive tests carried out on a small sample of cells and can even include testing some of them to destruction if necessary. Qualification testing also includes the testing of finished battery packs before the product is approved for release to the customer.
